Kilbride Farm Vernon by Seaview Prince Charming

The next generation of champions, Matthew Robson with Kilbride Farm Whizzkid at Stirling May 2010

The Kilbride Farm Herd was founded in 1971 with stock imported from Germany with a few other select females being purchased over the following years , the most influential being Carn Eunice. The Eunice family is now the largest cow family in the herd producing four R.U.A.S. champions and numerous Northern Ireland “ female of the year” winners.

Three Scottish Neff daughters were purchased from the Kilcorn herd at a later date, with Kilcorn Nan being particularly successful producing Kilbride Farm Barrister who has produced many good breeding cows and whose sons have sold for up to 10000gns. Two heifers  were purchased at the Milnafua dispersal and again they have bred well within the herd.

The herd contains approximately 60 pedigree cows at the moment and although we have been very successful showing in the past we no longer compete at the summer shows to help maintain a high health status within the herd.

Our aim is to produce structurally sound docile cattle with the emphasis on beefing qualities , milking ability and breed character backed up by performance figures.

KILBRIDE FARM SIMMENTALS

Kilbride Farm bids a fond farewell to Perth

It is the end of an era for many beef breeds with the last major bull sale taking place in Perth and we have many fond memories of showing there over almost 30 years, from the “Old Mart” with its wooden pens and unique atmosphere, characters and tales of all sorts of exploits both in the mart and in the surrounding hotels and bars, to the big modern market most people know today.

The Kilbride Farm herd has grown and changed over these years with our first successes with “Orage” bulls, our first junior champion in 1984 with K F Nevada who held the breed record price for a short time at 8000gns and then our first supreme champion in 1985 with K F Perry an Orage son. We have won four more supreme championships since then plus many individual championships and they still give us the same buzz as a win even a class win was special in Perth.

The type of bull we sell has changed and we think improved over the years becoming much thicker with much higher performance.

Our last “Perth” sale was in many ways was our most successful when we sold eight bulls to average almost £7200 with the champion and the three highest prices being sired by Kilbride Farm bulls.

The 8 Kilbride Farm bulls plus 6 sired by Kilbride Farm bulls averaged £8375! With the top three prices being for Kilbride Farm sired bulls.

We would like to congratulate everyone who has been successful with Kilbride Farm bloodlines It gives us confidence that we are going in the right direction as the next generations K F Newry, Seaview Prince Charming and now the first Cairnview Snazzy bulls become ready for sale.
